Codendency is increasingly becoming a topic discussed in therapeutic settings. Clients who demonstrate codependent behaviours often present to therapy exhausted and highly distressed. Despite their never-ending search for safety, they continue to find themselves in relationships that are unfulfilling and often abusive.
The Understanding Codependency Bundle (set of 3 A4 full colour handouts) teaches the underlying principles that perpetuate codependent behaviour. This highly complex issue is outlined in a series of visual depictions, designed to introduce the concepts of codependency and improve client insight regarding their involvement in unhappy, unfulfilling relationships.
Help clients understand the etiology and maintenance of codependency including:
- Underdeveloped identity (inability to identify own personal needs and wants)
- Internal feelings of shame and low self-worth
- Common symptoms that perpetuate codependency:
- Internal Critic
- Denial of own feelings
- Compulsive caregiving
- Enabling Behaviour
- Fear of rejection and abandonment
- People Pleasing
- Persistent feelings of guilt
This bundle consists of three separate handouts. Each A4 Notepad comes with 25 full colour sheets (75 sheets in total). The handouts can be used as a guide for psychoeducation regarding codependency, identification of codependent symptoms, and treatment goals.
Great as a take home handout to reinforce therapy teachings.
